We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Intermediate Tax Accountant to support the delivery of complex accounting services across a wide range of clients. This role is ideal for professionals with strong technical skills and experience preparing detailed tax returns and financial statements, as well as managing reconciliations independently.

As an Intermediate Accountant, you will collaborate closely with senior accountants and team leaders to deliver high-quality work across multiple entities. You will play a key role in preparing individual and group financial statements, managing activity and superannuation reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with tax obligations. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to communicate complex financial data clearly.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Tax Compliance & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare individual tax returns, including supplementary sections, in line with applicable tax legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation of income tax returns and financial statements for multi-entity groups.
  • Ensure financial statements accurately reflect business activities and comply with standards.


Activity & Superannuation Reconciliations

  • Prepare and analyze Activity Statements with an understanding of their interaction with financial statements.
  • Independently manage superannuation reconciliations, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting.


Accounting Systems & Documentation

  • Utilize accounting platforms such as Xero and MYOB to complete reconciliations and data entries.
  • Prepare workpapers in Active Workpapers or similar platforms, maintaining consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure data integrity across reports and systems.


Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with senior accountants and team leaders to deliver timely and accurate outputs.
  • Communicate findings, variances, or potential issues clearly to team leads and relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal reviews to continuously improve processes and service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in Australian tax accounting is required
  • Knowledge of Australian Tax Law is preferred; transferable tax knowledge from other jurisdictions will be considered
  • Proficiency in Xero and MYOB; experience with Active Workpapers is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Effective time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
