SUMMARY:

The core purpose of a Project Accountant is to ensure that the financial aspects of projects are properly managed, tracked, and reported. This role is essential for providing accurate and timely financial information for each project, ensuring the project stays within budget, and identifying any potential financial risks or opportunities.

The Project Accountant acts as a key player in aligning financial performance with project goals, supporting decision-making, and maintaining financial transparency throughout the project's lifecycle.

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Project Income Statement Preparation -Prepare and maintain accurate income statements for individual projects, ensuring that all revenues and expenses are accurately captured.

  • Budget Monitoring & Analysis (Budget vs. Actual) -Track and compare project budgets against actual expenditures and revenues on a regular basis -Provide variance analysis and identify discrepancies or potential risks to project profitability

  • Financial Reporting & Forecasting -Prepare and deliver financial forecasts, highlighting anticipated project expenses, revenue, and potential risks. -Ensure accuracy in project cost tracking, including manhours, license, hardware, outsourcing expenses, and overheads.

  • Cost Control & Risk Mitigation -Identifying financial risks or inefficiencies early in the project and helping implement corrective actions to minimize cost overruns or financial mismanagement.

  • Project Financial Documentation & Record-Keeping -Maintain organized and detailed financial records for each project, ensuring that documentation is readily available for audits and financial reviews.

  • Collaboration and Communication -Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial processes are followed and costs are managed.

  • Continuous Learning and Development -Staying current with changes in accounting regulations, software tools, and best practices.

Required Skills/ Experience / Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Related Field

  • At least 2 years with knowledge of general accounting or project management. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics or CRM.

  • Certified Public Accountant (Desirable) Functional Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Advanced excel, M0365

  • ERP system knowledge (BC)/ CRM

  • Auditing Experience

  • Numeracy skills

  • Analytical skills
