We is seeking an experienced EU Economic, Trade & Public Affairs Consultant to support research, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic advisory work relating to European economic policy, international trade, industrial development, and geopolitical affairs.

This role is particularly suited to professionals with experience in European government institutions, EU institutions, think tanks, policy research organisations, public affairs, economic or political publishing, international organisations, or government-related advisory work.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and writing capabilities with a practical understanding of European governmental and EU institutional processes.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor and analyse developments in EU and European economic policy, trade policy, industrial policy, regulations, and international economic relations.

· Track relevant legislative and policy developments at both European national-government and EU institutional levels.

· Produce high-quality analytical reports, policy briefings, research papers, and strategic recommendations for management and project teams.

· Assess geopolitical and economic developments that may affect European markets, international trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

· Conduct market research, policy research, feasibility studies, and strategic analysis for industrial and economic development projects.

· Support professional engagement with relevant stakeholders across government institutions, EU bodies, think tanks, industry associations, international organisations, and the private sector.

· Contribute to policy dialogue, stakeholder mapping, institutional outreach, and the development of long-term professional relationships with relevant organisations and decision-making communities.

· Provide insight into European institutional processes and help identify appropriate channels for professional communication and engagement on economic and trade-related matters.

Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

· European national government ministries or public-sector institutions, particularly in finance, economy, trade, commerce, foreign affairs, industry, investment, or international cooperation;

· EU institutions or EU-related bodies, including experience relating to the European Commission, trade and economic policy departments, external relations, or other relevant EU policy functions;

· Think tanks, economic or geopolitical research institutes, policy research organisations, or international affairs institutes;

· Public affairs, government relations, policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, or stakeholder engagement;

· Economic, political, financial, or international affairs publications, including senior research, editorial, analyst, or policy-writing roles;

· International organisations, industry associations, chambers of commerce, development institutions, or consultancies working closely with European governments or EU institutions.

Experience Requirements

Previous direct employment within a European government institution or EU institution is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

Candidates without direct institutional employment may also be considered if they can demonstrate substantial professional experience through consulting, research, advisory, publishing, public affairs, or project-based collaboration involving European governments, EU institutions, or related public-sector organisations.

Candidates should ideally have 3+ years of relevant professional experience, with more experienced professionals also encouraged to apply.

Professional Network & Stakeholder Experience

Candidates with an established professional network across relevant government institutions, EU bodies, think tanks, policy organisations, industry associations, international organisations, or public-affairs communities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Experience communicating professionally with policymakers, public officials, institutional representatives, researchers, industry leaders, or other relevant stakeholders will be considered an advantage.

Skills

· Strong understanding of European economic, trade, industrial, and regulatory policy.

· Familiarity with EU institutions and European governmental decision-making processes.

· Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.

· Ability to translate complex political, economic, and regulatory developments into clear strategic assessments.

· Strong understanding of geopolitical developments affecting Europe and its international economic relationships.

· Professional communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.

· Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment.

· Excellent written and spoken English. Additional European languages are an advantage.
