1. Clinical and Technical Duties

- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and radiographic techniques to produce accurate, demonstrable anatomical images on radiographs or other image receptors.

- Determine appropriate exposure factors to achieve optimal radiographic techniques with minimal radiation exposure to patients, significant others, and hospital staff.

- Evaluate radiographic images for proper positioning and image quality.

- Apply radiation protection principles for patients, staff, and the public.

- Operate x-ray, ultrasound, and ECG machines, ensuring proper care and maintenance of equipment and department fixtures.

- Assist radiologists during their procedures.

- Prepare and collect films for interpretation.

- Arrange schedules for special x-ray and ultrasound procedures, ensuring patients understand necessary preparations.

- Ensure ward nurses give proper instructions to in-patients for scheduled procedures.

- Process x-ray and dental films in the darkroom.

 

2. Image and Record Management

- File duplicate results for x-ray, ultrasound, and ECG accurately.

- Release results to wards, nurse stations, and out-patients.

- Log patient data accurately in the respective logbooks.

 

3. Patient Care and Professional Conduct

- Render quality service to patients with compassion and professionalism.

- Maintain cleanliness in the department at all times.

- Promote good working relationships with colleagues and co-workers.

- Make proper endorsements to the incoming radiologic technologist on duty.

 

4. Administrative Duties

- Manage schedules, update stocks, sales, and inventory reports.

- Charge in- and out-patients for payments before or after procedures.

- Inform superiors about departmental problems and achievements.

- Prepare Radiologist/Sonologist professional fees and follow up checks in the Business Office.

 

5. Policy, Training, and Quality Assurance

- Follow hospital and department policies and guidelines.

- Participate actively in the radiation assurance program.

- Attend department and hospital meetings.
