Hydrologist- TL

  • Conduct fieldwork and hydrologic assessments including surface water and groundwater monitoring.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret hydrological data using specialized software (e.g., HECRAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MODFLOW, GIS).
  • Develop models to predict water flow, quality, and availability for various regions.
  • Assess the impact of environmental changes, infrastructure projects, and climate variability on water systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Provide expert input on water resource planning, conservation, and management.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, planners, and policy makers.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and permitting requirements. 
  • Collecting and Analyzing Data: Hydrologists collect water samples, measure streamflow, and analyze data related to rainfall, runoff, groundwater, and surface water.
  • Monitoring Water Quality: They assess water quality, including chemical, biological, and physical characteristics, and monitor the impacts of pollution, erosion, and other environmental problems.
  • Predicting Water Resources: Hydrologists forecast water supplies, the spread of pollution, and the risk of flooding, and may work on projects related to water resource management and flood forecasting.
  • Evaluating Projects: They evaluate the feasibility of water-related projects, such as hydroelectric power plants, irrigation systems, and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Research and Development: Hydrologists conduct research to understand the interactions between water and ecosystems, develop sustainable water management strategies, and explore new technologies for water monitoring and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred for senior roles).
  • Certification or licensing (e.g., Professional Hydrologist, PE, GISP).
  • Experience with climate change risk assessments and sustainability planning.
  • Project management experience in environmental or civil engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in hydrological modeling and GIS tools.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams
