POSITION SUMMARY:
The Global Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing ECT Metrology and SPC systems, including the development, review, and maintenance of all related documentation. This role serves as the primary interface for ECT Metrology and SPC requirements, providing reports for internal and external customers. Additionally, the role supports Inline Vision processes as an alternate resource.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads the application of measurement science, mathematics, and physics to develop, improve, document, and maintain reliable measurement and calibration methods for dimensional and electro-static discharge (ESD) inspection and testing.
- Uses statistical analysis to evaluate measurement system suitability, particularly for equipment transfers between manufacturing sites and new or repaired measuring equipment acquisitions.
- Determines, defines, prioritizes, and implements improvements in ECT metrology and SPC capabilities, standard operating procedures, reporting, and maintenance for finished goods inspection across Advantek’s global manufacturing plants.
-Implements standardization across all Advantek carrier tape manufacturing plants.
- Facilitates continuous improvement projects.
- Monitors the effectiveness of implementation.
- Engages with relevant teams on new products and processes concerning metrology and SPC requirements.
-Designs equipment or methods related to metrology and SPC for new processes and applications.
- Ensures training materials and methods are developed, updated as needed, and implemented for ECT metrology and SPC.
- Reviews, updates, and creates documentation related to metrology and SPC.
- Conducts global training, orientations, and awareness programs on procedures, equipment, software, and other related topics.
- Ensures the operational accuracy of all measuring equipment by facilitating regular Measurement Systems Analysis and Long-Term Stability monitoring in coordination with Plant QA operations.
- Develops direct-computer controlled (DCC) automated inspection programs for carrier tape quality checks and incoming tool and die inspections using CMM.
- Supports the facilitation of QA inspectors and technicians training on Advantek Data Acquisition Program operation and VCMM operation basic troubleshooting globally.
- Develops, improves, documents, and maintains electro-static discharge (ESD) measurement methods and procedures.
- Responsible for the evaluation of ESD measuring systems.
- Acts as a resource for customer compliance and resolves internal and external corrective action needs related to metrology and SPC.
- Verifies and validates metrology- and SPC-related issues.
- Formulates and implements short-term and long-term corrective actions.
- Provides inputs to innovate ECT Metrology and SPC to compete in the industry of carrier tapes inspection and manufacturing.
- Has the authority to release CMM systems for manufacturing use.
- Performs compilation and submission of SPC report packs and facilitate execution of relevant actions by related stakeholders associated with the process.
- Supports Inline Vision processes as an alternate resource.
- Has the uthority to release vision system for operation’s use.
- Participates in planning for policies, procedures, systems, problem-solving, and performance monitoring by serving on standing and ad hoc committees, task forces, and project teams.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities related to or implied by those listed above.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Possesses at least 3 years of experience in developing and implementing metrology, SPC, and/or inline programs in the automotive industry.
- Has working knowledge of Automotive Core Tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, Control Plan, and Out of Control Action Plan (OCAP).
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in operating, programming, and troubleshooting optical and contact CMMs from brands such as MicroVu and Mitutoyo.
- Experienced in data analysis; knowledge of SAS JMP statistical software is an advantage.
- Knowledgeable in ESD-related standards and measurement methods.
- Understands vision systems and automation.
- Familiar with optics applications and imaging.
- Has expertise in motor control and industrial electrical systems.
- Possesses knowledge of electronics.
- Proficient in programming languages such as VB and C++.
- Experienced in mechanical 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
- Capable of working independently and managing stakeholders effectively.
- Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- None, but responsible for coordinating ECT metrology and SPC compliance with site QA teams
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Maintains flexible working hours to accommodate tasks across different Advantek sites.
- Adapts to varied working conditions in a manufacturing environment.
- Travels as needed to Advantek sites, vendors, and customer locations.
- Oversees QA staff in a production environment.
- Works for extended periods on computer monitors in both office and production settings.
- Operates in a tool setup environment, adhering to machine shop safety protocols and handling power and hand tools.
- Uses English as the primary language for communication.
